BioStatus, a British Life Science Technology company, that develops, manufactures and sells highly innovative laboratory reagents for research-oriented cell-based analyses have a range of novel compounds to be investigated for development.  Research activities, initially using cell lines and then in primary cells, will explore the compounds potential for fluorescence cell labelling and live cell tracking using instruments in the Imaging & Cytometry labs, within the University of York Technology Facility – including confocal microscopy and flow cytometry.  The benchmark reagents for the novel compounds would be DRAQ9™ a far-red fluorescent dye that labels membranous structures in the cytoplasm and DRAQ5™ a far-red fluorescent dye that labels the nucleus – both are suitable for live cell imaging.  This studentship will provide the successful candidate with experience in high end instruments with the latest technology for imaging and cytometry, mammalian tissue culture, data reporting / analysis and the opportunity to engage with an internationally renowned and highly successful Life Science Technology company. Students will be expected to present their findings orally at a research day in York in September 2024.
