GenerationResearch is supported entirely by philanthropic donations from individuals, trusts and foundations, corporate partners, and research bodies, who share our mission to provide equitable experiences in STEMM. In 2025 we received 630 applications for just 44 summer placements. With your help we can provide more opportunities for students from underrepresented backgrounds.
Since we began in 2021, we’ve been committed to transforming students’ lives through impactful education and scientific opportunity. In order to sustain and expand our programmes, we’ve worked hard to build a strong foundation of diverse funding sources that enable us to keep making a difference.

GenerationResearch is part of the University of York's annual "Giving Day". This is an annual crowdfunding event for two days in November that raises funds for four causes close to the hearts of the university community. Giving Day is a vital source of unrestricted funding for GenerationResearch, providing the flexibility we need to accelerate support for the next generation of researchers and technicians.
