Enhancing regional cancer policy development

10 weeks (full time, 37 hrs per week, £14.80 per hour, £500 student accommodation bursary)

Harrogate, UK

Leah Holtam and Jamie Duffill, Yorkshire Cancer Research Head Office, Harrogate

Yorkshire Cancer Research exists so that more people can live longer healthier lives, free of cancer. Thanks to supporters, the charity has been funding research and saving lives since 1925 in Yorkshire, and beyond. This studentship offers opportunities to work on several initiatives within the Cancer Insight Team. The successful candidate will be responsible for researching the latest evidence and data in relation to an existing policy report and conducting an update to this report. In addition, they will have the opportunity to work with publicly available cancer data to develop their understanding of the Yorkshire cancer landscape. Furthermore, the candidate will be able to shadow the public affairs team, to see how data and evidence which is translated into policy, can then be used to influence regional and national decision makers. The charity offers hybrid working with three days from the office each week and two days from home. To align with standard charity recruitment procedures any offer of employment will be subject to satisfactory pre-employment checks. Students will need to find their own accommodation and be expected to present their findings orally at a research day in York on 08th September 2026.
