Chloe Baldreki, Technology Facility, Biology Dept., York
The Bioscience Technology Facility provides open access to technology and research services for the biosciences in academia and industry. Our unique facility in York allows access and support to a wide range of technologies and expertise, including the Metabolomics and Proteomics Facility. Mass spectrometry represents a powerful analytical technique to quantify and assess proteins in complex samples. In this project the student will work on a proteomics project developing diagonal-PASEF methods on our timsTOF HT mass spectrometer, for comparison with currently used MS methods. This end-to-end proteomic project will involve preparation of mixed proteome standards, method development, acquisition, and data analysis. The lab offers a friendly and open working environment, where you will receive full training on the proteomic laboratory protocols and software. Supervision will be provided to ensure you gain valuable experience and understanding of proteomics, mass spectrometry and technical roles in a core research facility. We are looking for a student who has an interest in proteins, proteomics and/or technology, including mass spectrometry. Also someone who has a willingness to learn and ask questions in an open environment and maintain a positive, open attitude toward others. Students will need to find their own accommodation and be expected to present their findings orally at a research day in York on 08th September 2026.
