‍What did you enjoy most about your studentship?

The opportunity to zoom into medicine at cell and molecular level and think more about the biochemistry was new and exciting to me as a medic. I also loved being part of a great team and working in an environment where people were approachable and friendly and happy to help.

‍

How has your GenRes experience impacted you and has it given you a different perspective on anything in particular?

The GenRes programme has given me a supportive community of likeminded individuals that I hope to keep in touch with. The placement has changed my perspective on lab based research and has helped me to understand more where I feel I want to make an impact on patients within the broad spectrum of medical research. Practically, it has solidified my understanding and experience of working within a team and being within a working environment and the importance of collaboration and communication within research.

‍

Do you have any words for our GenRes funders?

A big thank you - I am very grateful for the money that has allowed me to undertake this summer internship. The experience has helped me to grow in confidence and become more independent as a researcher. Your support has made this possible and I have learned so much that I will carry forward throughout my medical training and future career. Thank you for investing in students like me and giving us the opportunity to explore research, challenge ourselves and contribute to work that has the potential to benefit patients.
